PhD student Michael Rauscher, in Dr. Fox’s lab, has won 3rd place in the Art of Stem. His submission was called “Flyalyzer” and it’s a screenshot from a program he wrote of the same name for kinematic analysis of Drosophila in tethered flight. It allows him to measure the downstroke amplitude of the animal’s wings as well as head yaw, abdominal ruddering, and foreleg extension.
His entry can be found here, along with the rest of “Art of Stem.”
