Biology alumnus David Dimitrie appointed Director of Conservation

Biology Department alumnus Dr. David Dimitrie has been appointed as the Director of Conservation for the Detroit Zoological Society. As Director of Conservation, Dr. Dimitrie will oversee conservation programs for wild animals and their habitats, ranging from metro Detroit to the Amazon rainforest. Dr. Dimitrie earned his PhD in 2021 while conducting research in Dr. Michael Benard’s laboratory, studying how amphibians respond to environmental variation.
